Why Greyc2 is about fashion
Determined to apply our values we came across the clothing industry and soon sensed much potential for positive change. First there is a huge demand for clothing items. The world consumes about 80 billion new pieces every year and the industry is worth almost 3 trillion dollars a year. Despite or especially because of the huge amounts of profits generated, the inequality in standards of living and access to opportunities people face across the value chain is massive. It is a globalised and interconnected industry. However, products we buy in store are impersonal and give little tribute to all the stories involved. We disagree with the destructive mass production and consumption of today's industry and would like to join the movement of exploring an alternative path.
The true cost of our clothes
- How can we create clothes that are beautiful in look, in harmony with nature, and help people in need?
- Can we use clothes to empower people economically and connect stories across the supply chain?
- What does it take to make people dress themselves in items catalysing positive change?
